Steven asks…
Name of VNC tool that lets others download custom exe?
I can’t remember the name. There was some free VNC tool that would let you create a custom exe that others could download to make it easier for you to help them with their computer. So for example you can tell your grandmother to download this, and then you can go in and fix whatever problem the computer has.
Anyone know the name of this?
I found it. It is UltraVNC, specially the single click (SC) version:

See these stories about it:

Are you referring to RealVNC software? You can download it at www.realvnc.com
If your grandmother is using Windows XP, there is another remote desktop program built-in called “Remote Desktop Connection”. On your grandma’s computer, enable it by doing this:
Start->Control Panel-> System -> “Remote” Tab -> check on “Allow users to remotely connect to this computer” . Also if you have a firewall, make sure that it allows “Microsoft remote desktop connection”. I hoped that answered your question.

Thomas asks…
i have 2 computers, both with the same IP addres, and don’t want to download ANY vnc applications?
how do i control one from the other, to monitor it because i need to make sure the other isn’t going on any innapropriete websites (younger child)

admin answers:
First of all each computer has to have a unique ip address. If you don’t, it will create a conflict in the switch/hub/router you are using.
I think your problem lies in the fact that you want technology to do your parenting. The best answer i can give you is. Put both computer in a public area and monitor your kids when they are on there. No piece of software is perfect, nor can they be a perfect subsitute for you
Fix your ip address conflict, and you should be able to use vnc. But vnc is a terminal program, and depending on user accounts, you may or may not be able to see what the kids have done/been.

Paul asks…
Is there a Mocha VNC application that is compatible with the iPod touch?
I tried to download the Mocha VNC application on my iPod touch 2, but says you have to have the iPhone 3g. Is there a Mocha VNC app that will work on my iPod touch, if not is there another application like it?
